Matthew Wiebe's Website

Welcome to my website!

A Picture of MatthewGreetings!

Personal heritage, travel, and a simple love of food have led me to collect recipes in my wiki. I'm always looking for more, so please feel free to share. When I'm not cooking or working, I can be found trying to work off some of the calories swing dancing or gardening. There are plenty of pictures of both in my picasa album.

Like most Canadians, I have a mixed cultural heritage. Particularly prominant are my Polish and Russian Mennonite roots, though there is some definite British and mainstream Canadian pieces too. My Polish roots have given me traditions like Wigilia and some more personal family history in the form of my Grandfather's WWII era memoirs. My Mennonite roots provide both culture and faith. I do not ride a buggy, I wear a beard because I like to, and my fedora has more to do with my love of swing dancing than church rules (in fact, dancing would run significantly counter to any but the most progressive Mennonite interpretations of church rules. Of course, so would a career in the computer field). Feel free to further explore the ever introspective Mennonite identity at Global Anabaptist Mennonite Encyclopedia Online.
